How Do I make Word my default word processing program? For some reason, it’s word pad right now.?
Although I still have microsoft word, for some reason, my default word processing program is Word Pad. All files I want to open (even if they are original Word documents) open in Word Pad. I can open them in Word if I have it open and then try to open documents, but it’s not the default. How do I restore this?

Try this:
1. In Windows Explorer/My Computer, find a file with the extension.doc.
2. Right click on it and select Open With->Choose Program.
3. In the next dialog box that pops up, scroll down and select Word.
4. Click on the box that says “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”.
5. Click OK.
That should do it.
Note that this changes only .doc type files, which are the bulk of MS Word files. You might also want to do this for Word backup .wbk files (usually found in the same directories as the .docs). Wordpad will still open .txt files.
